Each original design has an 8X10" color study complete with line drawing. The study contains a list of the colors used and destailed instructions for the first through third or fourth paintings. Also, special brush techniques and the firing temperature instructions are included.

#1 White and Ruby Roses - This is a high contrast study of white roses with a yellow brown center to dark ruby. These are complimented with chartreuse to dark shading green background.

#2 Pansies - The unique design of yellow and purple ruffled pansies are contrasted with the dark green stems and leaves. The heliotrope and purple background is complimented with yellow.

#3 Chrysanthemums - The white and ruby mums have a unique brush technique that creates naturalistic realism. These are accented by the warm to cool background.

#4 Azaleas - The many stages of rose colored blossoms are mottled with ruby for realism. The dark shading green leaves and blue shadow leaves create a great detail of dimension in this study.

#5 Poppies - This unique color combination of pink, yellow red and ruby flowers is complimented with a chartreuse, ruby and blue background. It is deeply accented with black green for a high contrast with the light flowers.

#6 Pink Peonies - The pink peonies with yellow brown centers are contrasted with the ruby peonies and dark shading green leaves. The apple green to blue background unifies the painting.

#7 White Peonies - The white peonies are highly contrasted with a vivid background ranging from warm to cool colors. This is a very dramatic study teaching color washes.

#8 Green Grapes (cool) - These green grapes are contrasted with ruby grapes and complimented with chartreuse to dark shading background. The design is free-flowing because of the shadow leaves and stems painting technique with the scroller and grumtine.

#9 Green Grapes (hot) - The green grapes are contrasted with ruby grapes and complimented with a yellow red and yellow brown background. Contrasting blue compliments for a color balance.

#10 Morning Glories w/Blackberries - These flowers wind and twist around the blackberries in many stages of growth creating a unique composition. Even though the background is mostly cool, the yellow centers and yellow red berries create a color balance and a challenging painting.

#11 Pacific Surf - This seascape is very basic and teaches how to paint transparent water, light and dark foam patterns and wave splash. The use of washes enhances and creates depth and dimension in the painting.

#12 Cascading Water - The mountain scene with rushing stream can be found in many areas. Basic brush techniques and the silk or wipe-out tool create the realistic water movement and splash.

#13 Reflections (tree) - This scene was painted with black and airbrushed with pink and blue. Painting on a thin transparent tile will allow the light to transmit through the highlight area and create a stained window effect.

#14 Reflections (scene) - This scene was painted with black and pure blue. It has been airbrushed with pink and blue to create a stained window effect when painted on a thin transparent tile and set in front of a lighted window.

#15 Orchids - This design was airbrushed on the first fire creating several values of pink and blue and then the traditional painting was done for detailing and subsequent fires. The background was also airbrushed. However, tradional painting can be done throughout and wet or dry grounding used for the background.

#16 "Stargazer" Lilies - This design was airbrushed on the first fire creating several values with yellow red and pink. Traditional brush painting was done for detailing and subsequent fires. The background was also airbrushed. However, traditional painting can be done throughout and wet or dry grounding used for the background.

#17 White Petunias - The flower blossums have the glaze removed with the gold leaf flaking to create the textured petals. The leaves and stems are then added and the background airbrushed or dry grounded.

#18 "Martha Washington" Geraniums - The design was sketched on the tile and then the background glaze removed with gold leaf flaking to create the texture. The flowers and background are then painted with traditional brush techniques. The use of yellow red washes in the background with rose create a very unique color combination accented with the light to dark black green.

#19 Morning Glories w/Blackberries - These flowers combined with blackberries are in varied stages of bloom. The hot yellow red color conbination creates a dramatic contrast to the compliment of cool blue in the background. A very intense interaction with color.
